THE PROCESSES
Mending.
Among the production process techniques implemented by GARFINTEX, a firm from Pray, in the province of Biella, is invisible mending, developed by cloistered nuns more than 200 years ago.
It is a method of repairing and rebuilding the armour of noble fabrics which consists of repairing the damage by taking individual threads from hidden parts of the damaged garment and then re-weaving them one by one, reproducing the qualities of the fabric over the damaged area so as to make the repair invisible.
In light of this, mending is a very demanding technique in regard to timing and attention to detail, which therefore requires the experience and skill of a highly trained team.
Handmade
Mending is used to fix the various defects that the raw fabric unloaded from the loom has. These include yarn, warping or weaving defects.
This is the first step of working on the fabric after being woven and it is also the most manual technique from where the ennobling of the fabric begins.
It is thanks to the skill of the darning machines that it is possible to fix and rebuild the weave of the fabrics, working meticulously by hand with needle and thread.
You are therefore in the expert and skilled hands of a first-rate team, who will act in line with your needs to give you the highest-quality garments.
